Chainsaw Holder

Finally, a chainsaw holder that keeps the bar steady while you sharpen the chain! It is 2 pieces of 2x4, the length of your bar, attached to a piece of plywood, about 1' wide x 3' long. Leave enough space between the 2x4s so your chain can move freely. Next, set the saw in place, position a latch in the handle. I used a dead bolt surface mount latch, shimmed up with spacers. Set the whole thing down on a stump or two. Sit at the other end and sharpen away!

I found two posts for "instructables" that require payment; they are advertizement for that business not farmhack

I found two posts for "instructables" that required payment; thus they are an advertizement for that business. The uniquenes of farmhack is the possibility of community of sharing ínformation and also the possible sale of products: but not the sale of information. The growth of farmhack depends on the availability of free infomation, as a repository.

I suggest you to setup a rule that articles not be an advertizement for sales somewhere else.

Wishing you a wonder-full 2015

New Topic Type, the "Problem Statement"

Hi all, There has been much discussion around "problem statements" being an important part of our community process so I set up a new Topic Type called "Problem Statement" and added a shortcut to creating a Topic labeled with that Topic Type (see screenshot). I like the idea of encouraging people to enter their problem statements because up to this point, FarmHack.net has been just sort of collection of solutions. Encouraging people to submit problems could spur innovation.

Volunteering full-time for Farm Hack this summer, need your help getting started

Hi all,

This summer I'm committed full-time to volunteering for Farm Hack and I need some of your help to get started. I want to take some time to interview our community on their experiences with the site as well as present to them ideas on where we are thinking of going. Initially, there are three groups of people I'm interested in interviewing.

Email bug on FarmHack.net fixed! Check your spam box. Future mail will end up in your inbox.

Hi everyone,

I've heard rumors and suspicions that notification emails from FarmHack.net were not going through and they were absolutely right. We were getting thrown into spam boxes because we weren't jumping through enough hoops to prove that we weren't a spam site. I enlisted the folks at SendGrid to send out our emails notifications for us so we don't have to jump through the hoops, they've got it covered!
