Growing Power's Urban and Small Farms 2014 Conference Committee recently announced a request for Makers, Hackers and Healers. As part of Growing Food and Justice for All Initiative's (GFJI) strategic work in reconnecting Food, Culture and Spirit, they are creating a 'Marketplace' for skill sharing in a variety of formats.

Julien and Joseph from " Ada bio Autoconstruction" are coming across from France to visit farms in Canada, Vermont, NY state-- Severine is driving them around. These are the open source hackers who have focused on tool-design and fabrication skills training for diversified organic farms in France, and have managed to get funding from the French government to train farmers how to build their own equipment! If you are a Farm Hack fan, you've likely already heard about them.

Does anyone have experience creating farm hack events for teens? My organization is working on an summer time initiative to promote sustainable farming and healthy eating in under-served food deserts in southern Maryland. I'd like to promote a culture of innovation around farming and thought teens would love to get involved in an event that enabled them to be creative and build useful things.

Hi, all -- Farm Hack and Public Lab have worked together a number of times on crop monitoring with infrared photography, balloon mapping, etc, and I wanted to extend a special invitation to you all to join us for a hands-on 3-day event next month:

Public Lab invites you to join our 2013 Barnraising, October 4-6 at LUMCON Research Station in Cocodrie, Louisiana. This year's theme is Education, and there is still plenty of room for proposing sessions, un-conference style.

We are holding a workshop in Washington on Sept 13,14, 15. We are trying to spread the word as it promises to be something quite special.

Hi everyone

I don't know if everyone's heard of it, but there's a Maker Faire in NYC coming up and Farm Hack is going! It's a really great for our community to get some exposure in the general maker community and also a chance for us to meet up and show off our tools to each other!

This year it's Sept 21st & 22nd. If you're able to come down, by all means, please do! If you want to show off some tools, tell us about it here and now so that we can include it in our description.
