Root Washer

Thanks for the great plans and advice. The only problems we have run into so far in building this are that the 2" wide caster wheels in the plans do not fit all the way between the grooves of the culvert pipe, making it too hard to turn the washer, and the 3" carriage bolts connecting the culvert to the wooden barrel staves are too long to run smoothly into and out of the chain. We are trying again with 2" bolts and wheels 1" thick. Maybe culvert pipe is different than the one in the plans?  Something to look at if you are building this to save some trips to town.

We have everything seemingly ready for our washer except the motor. We have a 1/2 hp 1725 rpm motor, bit no gear reducer, and I'm really stumped on how to search for and find one that will be compatible with our motor (image attached). Likewise, I don't know what search terms to use to find a pre-assembled motor+gear reducer, and to know that I am purchasing what I need.

The info on this page is already giving me more than I had to go on before, but I'm a total motor novice. Any advice?

Do you have any more images or video of the final product in action? Would be extremely helpful.

Also, is the chain able to rotate the barrel by catching onto the bolts that come through the drain culvert? It looks like the motor was moved above the barrel in the photo but is lower in the CAD drawing, any reason for this?

Any more detailed information available about the spray assembly or which nozzels may work best? Thank you!

Any suggestions on what sprocket to use with this? Sprockets for 2050 roller chain seem to be less common. The ones I see online (http://www.amazon.com/Martin-Roller-Sprocket-Reboreable-Double/dp/B004JXWG0Q) all have bores which are intended to be rebored and which do not have keyways built in. Is it ok to use a sprocket sized for a different size of roller chain?

Also how many teeth in the sprocket?

Great plans! I'm looking to build this project over winter and was wondering if you have a recommended motor RPM to pair with the 40:1 gearbox. Thank you!
