FarmHack Event Guide

In the past decade or so, many folks in various locations in the world have gathered for ‘Farm Hacks’: convivial gatherings at which people collaboratively develop their own designs, techniques, and ‘hacks’ for making agricultural technology more accessible and useful for smallholding farms. The attached guide was created as part of a collaboration by organisers of previous Farm Hack events. This includes representation from a range of organisations including The Landworkers Alliance, Cardiff University, and the Centre for Agroecology Water and Resilience. It has benefitted from the input from many individuals through interviews, editing, and advice, though in particular from Ali Taherzadeh, Garethe Hughes, Don Blair, Darren, Becca Stevenson, and Chris Maughan.



Automated Irrigation Controller

Using a moisture sensor, an Arduino, and a valve we document how to create a simple, battery powered, irrigation controller. Further info (including code) can be found in our [GitHub project](https://github.com/foss-wales/farmhack-watering-system)
