High-Tech Circuit Design Company Goes Awry To Serve Farmers with Niche Electronic Needs

One day I am going to own my own hi-tech cattle farm.

But before I can own my own farm, I have to build a sustainable custom electronics business.

My company, Henway Technologies, designs and manufactures electronic circuit boards. My clients are new product design teams, business owners, and well funded start-ups. I currently own a 3,000 sq ft office in downtown Akron, OH where the design and manufacturing takes place.

This business is fast paced, exciting and financially rewarding… but it’s not the farm. Being on a farm is where my true passion is. The only time I wear my Muck Boots ™ anymore is when I’m shoveling the snow off my driveway. As I tap off my boots, watching the snow fall clean off, I reminisce back to my days on the farm and how I wish cleaning cow manure off my boots was this easy.

I want to use my knowledge and my company’s resources to design custom electronic circuits for farmers. This will fulfill my need to be on the farm; as well as still allow me to design custom electronics.

What’s the challenge? On average, custom circuit design starts at $5k++ and can reach 6 figures easily for a single job. So the challenge is to make custom circuit solutions for farmers for under $1,000 per solution. This can be accomplished by slashing our engineering rates and working more efficiently (better management techniques). Why $1,000? Because anymore it becomes less of a “purchase” and more like a project (if you are interested in a project then please contact me privately at roys@henwaytech.com so that we can discuss your needs).

Can someone please comment whether or not this would be a wise business decision?

Is there a need for such a service? If so, does anyone have any examples of electronic gadgets that farmers need but can't buy?

My Skills? I can design almost anything you have ever seen an electronic gadget do.

What can I do for farmers? I can design circuits for farmers that need custom electronic gadgets. Some examples: alarm systems, surveillance, automation, sensors, scales, ventilation monitors, temperature controllers, etc.

Who do I serve? I will serve all farmers – agricultural and livestock.
