Join Feeding the 5000 Portland for lunch! On Friday, October 7th, from 11am to 4pm in Portland's Monument Square, local chefs and volunteers will serve thousands of people a delicious, free meal made entirely from fresh, locally grown food that otherwise would not have been eaten. Feeding the 5000 Portland, Maine is part of a global campaign to reduce the amount of nutritious food that goes to waste in our homes and communities. The event will highlight Maine's local food bounty, as high-profile chefs and speakers offer common-sense solutions and inspire us to take action. Stay tuned for the full event schedule.
Everyone is welcome! Bring friends, family, and coworkers - we want to serve thousands of free meals!
Led by Natural Resources Council of Maine, Healthy Acadia, Cumberland County Food Security Council and Feedback, the event is supported by Portland Food Co-op, Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program, The Locker Project, Maine Farmland Trust, University Of Maine Cooperative Extension, Good Shepherd Food Bank, The City of Portland, Maine, Greater Portland Council of Governments, and many more!
