Open Farm Week is August 3-9, 2015, and we hope that you will join us! Building off of the success of our 2014 Open CSA Farm Day, NOFA-VT is partnering with several organizations from around the state with the plan of expanding both the scope and the length of the event.
This event is structured to strengthen consumers’ connections to Vermont land and farms, while teaching them how to access Vermont-grown food, fiber and forestry products. This will become an annual event that engages both Vermonters and vacationers in building relationships with our food producers and interest in Vermont’s amazing working landscape.
Early August is a time when many farms and farmers markets are at their peak of production and have a variety of different products to showcase to visitors. While one specific day might not work for well for everyone, the event spans a whole week to provide the opportunity for you to participate on whichever day(s) work best for you. NOFA-VT has received funding from the USDA Farmers Market Promotion Program to augment our CSA focused Specialty Crop Block Grant from the Vermont Agency of Agriculture in order to expand our outreach for this event to direct markets farms and farmers markets.
NOFA-VT is excited to promote direct market Vermont certified organic farms and those that are members of NOFA-VT. In addition, this week coincides with the annual National Farmers Market Week and we will be promoting markets that are members of the Vermont Farmers Market Association.
